Democrats Largely Split on Views of Pro-Palestine Demonstrations

While support for Palestine (and even Hamas in certain instances) is strongest amongst the progressive wing of the Democrat Party, more traditional Democrats have walked the fine line of supporting Israel while also looking to minimize any casualties in Gaza.

Democrats of this ilk tend to shy away from more extreme claims that portray Israel as an “apartheid state” or Hamas as a unit of “freedom fighters.”

President Biden himself has taken heat from his own party members over this. Some leftists believe the president isn’t showing enough support for Palestine. This could adversely impact him in the 2024 election, especially if these voters decide to cast ballots against him.

Just yesterday, pro-Palestine demonstrators gathered in front of the White House, ultimately interrupting an event focused on preventing gun violence across the United States.
