Disruptive Airline Passengers Could Soon Land on the National No-Fly List

The Delta CEO has requested for the Justice Department to put travelers convicted of disturbances on aircraft on the country’s no-fly list. Bastian cited the nearly 100% surge in violent altercations on Delta flights since 2019 as the rationale for this measure.

This isn’t the first appeal the Justice Department has faced related to trouble on airplanes. Back in October, Biden stated the Department of Justice needed to take measures to handle disruptions on aircraft.

Close to 2,000 individuals are already prohibited from flying with Delta Airlines, due to breach of mask rules.

More trouble for airlines in 2022?

Airlines have endured a bumpy turn of events since the inception of this year. 2022 kicked off with record numbers of flights facing waits and cancellations.

Some of this dealt with inclement weather in certain parts of the country; another strong factor entailed airline workers calling off the job and claiming to have omicron.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), unruly airline passengers have declined by about 50% this year. The CEO of Delta Airlines appears eager to keep things this way as more and more Americans resume travel.
