Just over the weekend, France saw nearly 200,000 people peacefully protest against the scourge of antisemitism. Various French officials also joined this rally, making it clear that the nation collectively rejects hostility and violence against Jews.
On Sunday, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, declaring her support for Israel’s right to self-defense, maintained her place among the ranks of bipartisan US leaders condemning antisemitic displays.
Following her statements over the weekend, Hochul also beefed up New York’s counterterrorism division. This came in addition to her convening with Jewish leaders and members of law enforcement.
A moral obligation
At this critical moment, growing numbers of leaders and everyday people recognize the ethical duty to oppose antisemitism in all forms.
Multiple nations have now reported massive upticks in these sorts of incidents ever since Hamas assailed Israel. It therefore remains clear that the October 7 invasion emboldened sinister individuals looking to intimidate and harm members of the Jewish community.
