Why Aug. 28?
With a touch of irony (we hope) the Livestream may have been scheduled to coincide with a date in science fiction in the Terminator movie franchise. In “Terminator 2: Judgement Day” the date Aug. 29 had special significance. That was the date that “counted down” 23 years to the day that Skynet wipes out the human race. That was the day Skynet was created.
In the film, Skynet is a neural-based artificial intelligence that was created by humans and ultimately destroyed them.
Perhaps we’re all going to someday soon have this Neuralink BCI chip installed in our brains. Or maybe it will be limited to those who need this potential health benefit.
Whatever the future, Elon Musk has just unveiled the “matrix within a matrix” that he has been teasing across social media since early this year.
