Brazile pointed out this weekend that the former president is facing the “cold shoulder” from big-time GOP donors who don’t want to support his campaign.
She also noted with Haley set to announce her run for president in a matter of days, Trump may soon discover he jumped the gun.
The generational factor
Later, Brazile opined that Haley could be a bigger threat to Trump than he thinks. This remains largely driven by some in the Republican Party who favor a generational shift in party leadership.
This is something that Arkansas Gov. Sarah Sanders touched on when responding to Joe Biden’s State of the Union address last week.
According to Brazile, Haley can appeal to GOP voters who want a younger candidate representing and leading the party. The former DNC chairwoman also predicted that Haley will play into the generational advantage she has in being significantly younger than Trump.
One could also say the same of DeSantis, should he enter the 2024 presidential election as expected.
Trump’s reaction to another candidate formally joining the 2024 election will likely go over as poorly as most expect. So far, the former president directs most of his venom toward DeSantis. However, Trump is also on record accusing Haley of being “too ambitious.”
