In the filing, anti-abortionists like Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine and the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, claim that the drug is dangerous to the women who take it. They also submitted declarations from abortion providers directly who allegedly state that it would have to get rid of 17 of the 18 abortion service providers if Mifepristone becomes banned.
In response, the FDA states that there is no basis for the anti-abortion groups to question the FDA’s judgement and determination that the drug in question is safe when used as directed. The FDA also states that banning the drug would increase the number of later-term and surgical abortions in patients.
The case is ongoing. Updates will be provided.
