Many federal employees based in Washington, DC, have announced plans to avoid supporting mom-and-pop businesses near their offices as a form of protest.

Trump Mandates Govt Workers Return-to-Office

In a statement posted on the White House website, Trump directed heads of federal departments and agencies to “take all necessary steps to terminate remote work arrangements and require employees to return to work in-person at their respective duty stations on a full-time basis.”

The statement allowed for some exemptions at the discretion of department and agency heads but emphasized accountability to the President.

A subsequent statement further reinforced the President’s authority over federal officials, asserting that their powers are delegated by and accountable to him.
