NBC News’ latest data likewise shows Biden lagging 2% behind Trump in terms of voter support. This has been an issue for the current president for some time now. However, Biden and his allies maintain that when it counts most, voters will back him over Trump.
Regarding this year’s general election, the overall consensus is it’ll be a tight race, notwithstanding the final outcome. Independent voters are also projected to play a major role in swinging the election in either Biden or Trump’s favor.
Not a good sign
Having less than two-thirds of Americans interested in a major US election isn’t great. Ideally, the country should see voters who are engaged in the race and eager to follow it.
Though these findings aren’t surprising, either. With growing questions about whether or not Biden or Trump will debate each other (both candidates refused to debate their primary challengers), some Americans are just tuning out altogether.
Another common sentiment is that everyone’s already seen Biden vs. Trump play out and there’s little subject matter of interest.
