The Fisherman’s Wharf shooting began around 6:50 p.m. at the intersection of Beach and Stockton Streets, across from Pier 39.

The eruption of gunshots, likened by local resident Carrie McEachron to the repeated backfiring of a car engine, reverberated along the Embarcadero.

With the frenzied sounds of popping echoing around 20 to 25 times, the violent altercation sparked waves of panic and bewilderment.

Minutes later, a second occurrence of the Fisherman’s Wharf shooting was reported near Embarcadero and Howard Streets, nearly a mile from the initial incident.
