Rep. Brannan also spoke about the importance of this legislation on Monday. It is the view of the GOP lawmaker that Floridians are within their rights to protect themselves, along with their families, and not have to get a stamp of approval from the government.

Florida law enforcement members and the National Rifle Association (NRA) have endorsed HB 543 as well. An NRA representative told Fox News that Americans shouldn’t require a “government permission slip” to shield themselves and their families from danger.

A strong likelihood of passing

Democrats in Florida have already made their displeasure with HB 543 very well known. However, the Democrat Party doesn’t control the Florida state legislature.

As a matter of fact, Republicans in the Sunshine State have supermajorities in the House and Senate. Therefore, HB 543 could very well pass and become the law of the land in Florida.

Governor Ron DeSantis went on record last year, confirming that if the Florida state legislature passes a constitutional carry bill, he will gladly sign it into law.
