Many critics of Republicans and right-wing policies have appeared on ‘Real Time with Bill Maher.’
Politics and Extremism
Over the past year, both Republicans and Democrats alike have faced accusations of extremism. Many Americans believe that both major political parties are moving either further to the right or further to the left. Furthermore, these are actions which various individuals believe will hurt both parties during the upcoming midterm elections. Republicans and Democrats have subsequently faced advice to work on appealing to moderates, Independents, and other nontraditional voters.
Many conservatives believe that the left wing is lacking a moderate sector. Confrontational protests, calls to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and more have served as reasons behind the aforementioned perceptions.
Following the recent confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump tweeted about the “left-wing mob” and Democratic extremism:
You don’t hand matches to an arsonist, and you don’t give power to an angry left-wing mob. Democrats have become too EXTREME and TOO DANGEROUS to govern. Republicans believe in the rule of law – not the rule of the mob. VOTE REPUBLICAN!
