On Saturday, First Lady Melania Trump shared her thoughts on President Donald Trump’s tweets, according to The Hill.

An Overview of the First Lady’s Statements

Mrs. Trump is currently embarking on her solo international trip. During her time in Egypt, she delivered the following remarks to the press:

“I don’t always agree with what he tweets and I tell him that, I give him my honest opinion and honest advice. Sometimes he listens and sometimes he doesn’t. I have my own voice and my opinions and it’s very important for me that I express what I feel.”

Reporters then asked the first lady whether or not she ever attempts to intimidate the president into refining his Twitter habits. Mrs. Trump, however, explained that she does not try to force her husband to change his tweets:

“No, I tell him my opinions, what I believe. In some of them maybe we don’t agree. I’m not elected, he’s the president.”

Finally, the first lady admitted that she does sometimes ask Trump to set down his smartphone.

President Trump’s Tweets

The president’s use of Twitter is a highly controversial matter, in and of itself. While Trump’s supporters frequently laud his tweets, critics have a wholly different outlook. Detractors have ongoingly referred to the president’s tweets as “unpresidential.” Others called upon Twitter to permanently suspend Trump’s account. Earlier this year, Twitter explained that they would not ban world leaders from the platform.
