Chin Jin Shin had been involved in an accident where he hit another car. The woman whose car was hit called Markynn West to the scene.
There were a number of additional reports that West did not show up at the accident scene alone. And that up to 8 cars were on the scene surrounding Shin.
Responding officers were told several people were beating up the driver who had “caused the accident.” And that two people were pointing guns at each other, the affidavit says.
By the time officers arrived, most of the cars had disappeared. And Shin was found shot dead on the east side of University Drive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
West remained at the scene. Police say West admitted he shot and killed Shin. And claimed there was an argument between himself and Shin.
After being questioned by police West was initially released. And he was not charged till three weeks later.
Police said they were still “interviewing all involved subjects. “
A GoFundMe account for legal expenses and to provide for Hin’s 14-year-old daughter has raised more than $100,000.
