Neighborhood Reactions to the Gilgo Beach Serial Killer Investigation

The investigation’s progress has sent ripples of shock through the suburban village of Massapequa Park, drawing residents from their homes despite the gloomy weather on Friday. Heuermann, a married father of two and an architect operating out of Manhattan, was described as a “neighborhood creep” by local residents.

A former neighbor, Carol Bergen, relayed a chilling conversation with Heuermann, recalling him once asking her brother if he had shed tears at their father’s funeral. Meanwhile, Amy Lombardi, another neighbor, expressed her shock and fear about the arrest, saying, “It’s just very shocking and scary that this happened so close to home. I’m glad they have him in custody, and I hope they figure out what really happened.”
