Other Republicans in the Senate cited fiscal concerns as their reasons for opposing $2,000 stimulus checks. Massive and unchecked government spending is a huge contributing factor to the nation’s growing debt.
Response from the Democrats
Democrats are fiercely supportive of $2,000 stimulus payments. Since the ruling of the Senate, congressional Democrats are unleashing on Republicans.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer professed earlier today that the body’s Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is the one who “holds the key” to alleviating economic crises across America.
If Senate Republicans were to get on board with the crusade for $2,000 stimulus checks, this would add a grand sum of $464 billion dollars to the present relief package containing $900 billion dollars.
Under the current stimulus plan, there are protections and funds designed to help Americans. These funds will go to relief for hospitals, small businesses, and other facilities; in addition to $600 relief checks, protections against evictions are also present in the bill.
