The Harrisburg market fire consumed part of the market’s structure, specifically the slightly newer brick building situated at the rear.

Although firefighters made swift and decisive tactical decisions to control the blaze, the rear half of the second building, facing 6th Street, unfortunately succumbed to the flames.
