During other segments of the interview, the former Starbucks CEO spoke about his background. Schultz grew up in New York public housing and eventually rose to become CEO of a major company. He has donated to many Democrats in the past; although, Schultz maintains that his desire to run for office is motivated by the wish to see everyone have a shot at the American dream.
“I have serious profound concerns about the country. I want to do everything I can to restore faith in our government and to give the American people a real chance an opportunity at the American dream. That’s why I’m here.”
Schultz furthermore believes that his prospective run as an independent will appeal to centrists with both left and right leanings. At this time, his belief remains to be seen.
The Moral Equivalency Between Both Sides
Howard Schultz is not the first individual to criticize both sides of the aisle. Many Americans have noted the hatred and vitriol in this country, neither of which maintains mutual exclusivity to Democrats or Republicans.
