President Joe Biden’s administration has also been sending mixed messages. Biden has done an about-face on the border. He has reversed all of Trump’s border policies that effectively slowed the influx, sold off materials previously purchased for building a border wall, and assured Congress there was no crisis.
The President has recently told the immigrants not to come here. But that doesn’t seem to slow them down.
Both the Northern and the Southern US borders have issues. A chief border patrol agent in Vermont recently reported that illegal border crossings into the U.S. from Canada in 2023 have already exceeded the numbers recorded over the last decade.
