John Bolton, the U.S. national security adviser, said in an interview earlier this month that the strategic issue wasn’t Assad, but Iran. Israel warned many times that Iran is growing its footprint. Also, Israel stated that it won’t allow Iran’s Shiite proxies to establish a presence in Syria.
