In this year's Arizona gubernatorial election, Republican and Trump ally Kari Lake narrowly lost to Democrat Katie Hobbs by about 17,000 votes. Since this loss, Lake has alleged without evidence that the election was rigged.

On top of this, the failed gubernatorial candidate called for the jailing of election officials and brought forward litigation to overturn her election loss.

Despite the tough talk from Lake and her "war room" Twitter account, nothing came from her litigation. Judge Peter Thompson (a GOP appointee) dismissed Lake's case in court, due to a lack of evidence.

Since losing the election and her legal battle to overturn the election's results, Lake now has additional problems ahead.

Possible sanctions over her failed lawsuit

Arizona Gov.-elect Katie Hobbs has signed onto an active motion in Maricopa County that would hold Lake accountable for paying the county's court proceeding expenses and attorneys' fees.

Hobbs, who is also Arizona's secretary of state, and Maricopa County made note of Lake's behavior ahead of her loss. During the gubernatorial election, Lake refused, on multiple occasions, to say she'd accept the outcome if she lost.

Furthermore, Maricopa County pointed out the danger of election officials facing "unwarranted accusations" and "unfounded attacks."

In its motion for sanctions against Lake, Arizona's largest county likewise stated Lake's litigation remained void of fact or law, hence its failure to render results in court.

If Hobbs and Maricopa County get the outcome they're hoping for, a judge will order Lake to pay the aforementioned fees as a penalty for misconduct or breach of court regulations.

During a recent Turning Point USA event in Phoenix, Lake accused Maricopa County of creating a "house of cards."

After making this wild-eyed statement, the failed Arizona gubernatorial candidate then professed she would "burn [the house of cards] to the ground."

However, the only things that have burned so far are Lake's failed efforts to be governor. That's coupled with her equally unsuccessful endeavor to overturn her election loss.

Republican Bill Gates, the Board of Supervisors chairman in Maricopa County, is thrilled with the court ruling against Lake. According to Gates, Lake's failed lawsuit marked a win for US democracy and Arizona voters.

Gates then explained that honesty and facts never inspired Lake's litigation. After noting that Lake pressed the court to toss valid votes, the Maricopa Republican reiterated a valid election took place.

This came shortly after Gates mentioned that Arizona will not stand for "frivolous political theater."
