He was arrested on December 30, 2022, for the slayings that took place in November.
In September 2020 Taylor was a lawyer for Benjamin Mogen. Madison’s dad was facing 2 misdemeanor drug charges. He pled guilty to one of the two counts and was sentenced to 90 days in jail, according to court records.
The county public defender had also defended Mogen’s stepmom Korie in 2022. She was charged with one misdemeanor and two felony drug charges.
Kernodle’s mother Cara Northington felt “heartbroken” after learning the public defender was now representing her daughter’s alleged killer. She explained that while she was in rehab Taylor had her power-of-attorney.
Taylor may be the only lawyer in the Public Defender’s Office that has handled complex murder cases.
