McConnell says Trump proved mob attack on U.S. Capitol

After the insurrection at the capital on January 6, 2020, Capital Police Officer Brian Sicknick passed away. Since then, a complaint has been filed by the officer’s partner, Sandra Garza, on behalf of Brian’s estate. The complaint claims that Sicknick’s death was directly caused by former President Donald Trump’s lies. Additionally, the complaint discusses the the dark day in American history when Trump refused to accept defeat, calling all his followers to “fight like hell”.

Whether or not these words and others were meant to instigate violence is still up for debate, but there is no doubt that Officer Sicknick’s death was caused by Trumps action. In the complaint, numerous other names are mentioned repeatedly such as rioters George Pierre Tanios and Julian Elie Khater, who are accused of assaulting Sicknick at the Capital.

“The peaceful transfer of power is a sacrament of American democracy,” Sicknick’s partner, Sandra Garza says. “Donald Trump, together with other co-conspirators, defiled that orderly transition through a campaign of lies and incendiary rhetoric which led to the ransacking of the United States Capitol as part of an insurrectionist effort on January 6, 2021. That attack … cost U.S. Capitol Officer Brian Sicknick, who was bravely defending the cradle of American democracy, his life,” she adds.
