Lyft Announces Pay Increases, Bonuses to Attract More Drivers to Rideshare App

Without drivers, neither app has the capacity to function. It’s for this reason that Lyft promised all of its motorists will take home at least 70% of rider fares. This policy change materialized after some Lyft drivers alleged they were earning considerably less than what riders paid for their trips.

The rideshare company isn’t stopping with 70% base pay, though. In the spirit of getting even more drivers on the app, Lyft also committed to bonuses for motorists who accept scheduled rides and have to wait longer times for passengers.

Drivers, from February 12 to July 1, will furthermore be eligible for $100 bonuses if they give at least 50 rides in electric vehicles within seven-day periods.

David Risher, the CEO of Lyft, is admittedly confident that these new measures will inspire more people to drive for the company and collectively elevate the rideshare industry.

In the current economy, Americans are eagerly seeking out ways to make ends meet and bring in extra income. This is especially crucial for workers who’ve recently been laid off, had their hours cut, or are otherwise struggling to stretch their dollars until the next payday.
