Preparing for Hurricane Idalia
Florida’s already had an emergency declaration approved, due to the impacts that Idalia is expected to have on the state. This approval enables Florida to best prepare itself and employ the necessary safeguards.
So far, various communities remain advised to prepare for power outages, heavy rains, and otherwise turbulent weather.
Aside from evacuations, Floridians should also take the following precautionary measures:
- Stocking up supply kits
- Securing boats
- Placing critical documents in waterproof containers
- Bringing in outdoor furniture, signs, yard decorations, etc.
In the Sunshine State, Gov. Ron DeSantis continues to give ongoing updates about Hurricane Idalia so Floridians remain aware of what’s happening. Likewise, the Florida governor is working with various officials to ensure preparedness for both the hurricane’s arrival and the days and weeks after.
