As of Tuesday night, MGM’s computer systems remain offline. And it is anticipated that they will stay that way until a thorough evaluation of the cyberattack is conducted, both by the company and the FBI.
This incident marks the second cybersecurity challenge MGM Resorts has faced in recent years.
In 2019, hackers stole the personal information of 142 million guests, which was subsequently posted on a dark web cybercrime marketplace, as reported by ZDNET.
The stolen data primarily consisted of names, email addresses, and postal addresses, emphasizing the importance of robust cybersecurity measures.
MGM Resorts says it remains committed to delivering the world-class experiences for which it is renowned.
In a statement issued on Monday night, the company reassured guests that its resorts, including dining, entertainment, and gaming facilities, are operating again despite the cyberattack disruptions. Guests can still access their hotel rooms through alternative means such as in-person checkouts and physical room keys, as well as through phone and concierge services.
