Under federal copyright law, unauthorized use of protected works for commercial purposes can result in significant financial penalties. The false designation claim suggests that reasonable consumers might have believed Fyffe had officially endorsed or collaborated with Tyson’s promotional campaign, potentially diluting the producer’s brand and creating market confusion.

Financial Demands and Injunctive Relief

Fyffe’s legal team is pursuing multiple forms of relief through the federal court system. The complaint seeks monetary damages that include lost licensing revenue that Fyffe claims he would have earned had Tyson properly secured permission to use the track. Additionally, the lawsuit demands a share of profits that Tyson allegedly gained through the video’s viral reach and contribution to fight promotion.

Beyond financial compensation, the producer is requesting a permanent injunction that would prevent Tyson from using “Murdergram” in any future promotional materials or social media content. The legal filing also seeks recovery of attorney’s fees and court costs associated with pursuing the copyright infringement claim.
