According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, this witness confronted Reinking and “wrestled the weapon away.” After gaining control of the weapon, the witness hurled it over the Waffle House counter. After the person at hand disarmed him, the alleged gunman then fled the scene.
The Aftermath of the Waffle House Shooting
At this point and time, Travis Reinking remains at large. However, the Metro Nashville Police Department is urging anyone who sees Reinking to contact their department.

A man believed to be Travis Reinking was last seen in a wood line near Discovery at Mountain View Apts. on Mountain Springs Dr. near the Waffle House. The man was seen wearing black pants and no shirt.

The Waffle House director of PR and external affairs also released the following public statement in light of the shooting:
