A Florida couple has been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of teen mom, Miranda Corsette, 16. Her dismembered remains were discarded in a dumpster.

Authorities say the victim was lured through a social media app before being kidnapped, tortured, and ultimately killed.

Victim Lured Through Social Media

According to St. Petersburg police, Corsette was last seen on surveillance footage entering the home of Steven Gress, 35, on February 14. Police believe Gress had lured the teen to his residence under false pretenses.

Authorities allege that Corsette was held captive in the home Gress shared with his domestic partner, Michelle Brandes, 37. The couple reportedly suspected Corsette of stealing a ring and subjected her to severe abuse.

Details of the Murder of Teen Mom

A police affidavit obtained by the Tampa Bay Times reveals horrifying details of the teen’s ordeal.

The document states that the suspects "held the victim against her will for more than seven days and tortured her by repeatedly beating the victim and eventually stuffing a billiard ball into her mouth and wrapping her face with plastic wrap, causing her to suffocate."

The murder of the teen Mom took place after she was tortured for a week.

"After meeting him the first time, [Corsette] went home, and then the next day she returned to his home," police said in a social media post.

Corsette's grandmother reported her missing to the Guilford Police Department on February 24. Police noted that the teen had a history of running away from home.

She lived with her grandmother and was the mother of an 11-month-old baby.

Authorities estimate that Corsette was killed between February 20 and February 24. Records indicate that her body was transported by car to another location, where she was dismembered and discarded in a dumpster.

Suspects Face Murder Charges

Gress and Brandes are facing first-degree murder charges for their alleged roles in the heinous crime.

Gress had already been in custody since March 5 on unrelated drug and weapon charges after allegedly pointing a harpoon at Brandes. 

Brandes later turned herself in on March 8.

Authorities continue to investigate the case, seeking justice for Corsette and her young child.
