New York extends waiting period for background checks, ban bump stocks

On Monday, the Governor also approved a bill extending the waiting period for background check to 30 days and prohibiting ownership or sale of bump stocks.

Extending the waiting period provides law enforcement enough time to complete a background check. It also helps law enforcement ensure that only those eligible to buy a gun will be able to do so.
