Nikki Haley Wins Republican Primary in Vermont

In the weeks leading up to Vermont’s primary, polls showed Haley down to Trump by double digits. Her victory in the state, nonetheless, suggests that some voters are ready for a change in this year’s presidential race.

A greater path to the presidency

Throughout Haley’s campaign for the White House, polls have consistently shown her beating Joe Biden in a one-on-one race, frequently by double digits.

At the same time, many Haley voters who’ve spoken to reporters maintain they will not vote for former President Trump in a general election. Some have even said they’d cast their ballot for Biden, were the 45th president to become the GOP nominee again.

The former UN ambassador continues to warn voters that neither Trump nor Biden are suited to hold the presidency. She’s also referenced various surveys which indicate most Americans don’t wish to see a reenactment of 2020’s general election.

On social media, Haley’s supporters are heralding her victory in Vermont as a sign that many Republicans and Independents are ready for a new president.
