The legal battle between Migos member Offset and producer ChaseTheMoney has taken a new turn as the Atlanta rapper seeks judicial intervention to move forward with his lawsuit. Court documents reveal that Offset has formally requested a California judge approve alternative methods of serving legal papers to the producer after multiple failed attempts through conventional channels.

This development comes as Offset continues to promote his latest musical endeavors, including his recent single "Bodies" featuring JID, which competed against his wife Cardi B's anticipated release "Outside." However, unresolved business from his previous album "Set It Off" continues to cast a shadow over his current projects.

The Contract Dispute at the Heart of the Case

The lawsuit stems from what Offset characterizes as a breach of contract regarding the song "Worth It" from his album "Set It Off." According to court filings, the dispute began when both parties initially reached an agreement through ChaseTheMoney's former manager, J. Hill. The original terms were allegedly accepted by both sides at the time of negotiation.

The situation became contentious when ChaseTheMoney brought on new management. Court documents indicate that under the new management's direction, ChaseTheMoney allegedly demanded compensation significantly exceeding the original agreement—specifically, more than five times the original producer fee and double the previously agreed-upon royalty rate.

This dramatic increase in compensation demands appears to be the catalyst for Offset's decision to pursue legal action. The rapper's legal team argues that the original producer agreement was properly executed and that the subsequent demands constitute a breach of the established contract.

Service of Process Challenges

The current legal hurdle involves what attorneys call "service of process"—the formal delivery of legal documents to notify defendants of pending litigation. Offset's legal team has documented multiple unsuccessful attempts to serve ChaseTheMoney through traditional methods, including in-person delivery and certified mail.

These service difficulties have prompted Offset to petition the court for alternative service methods. Such requests are not uncommon in the entertainment industry, where defendants may be difficult to locate due to touring schedules, multiple residences, or other factors that complicate traditional service attempts.

California courts have various options for alternative service, including publication in newspapers, electronic service, or service through known associates or business addresses. The judge's decision on this matter will determine how the case can proceed.

What's Next

The California judge's decision on alternative service methods will determine the immediate next steps in this case. If approved, Offset's legal team will be able to formally notify ChaseTheMoney of the lawsuit and move forward with the litigation process.

As Offset continues to work on new music and potential album projects, this legal matter represents unfinished business that could impact his creative and business relationships moving forward.
