Ozzy Osbourne

Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary “Prince of Darkness” and frontman of Black Sabbath, has died at the age of 76.

Known for his haunting voice, explosive stage presence, and infamous off-stage antics, Osbourne first rose to fame in 1968.

That was the year that Black Sabbath the groundbreaking English heavy metal band took to the stage. His legacy spans decades, influencing generations of musicians and fans alike.

From 2002 to 2005, his family appeared in the popular MTV reality show The Osbournes.

Despite years of declining health from Parkinson’s disease and multiple spine surgeries, Osbourne remained creatively active until the end. Several posthumous projects — including a concert film, documentary, memoir, and early recordings — are set to honor his enduring impact on music and pop culture.

‘Back to the Beginning’: Ozzy’s Final Live Show Becomes Concert Film

Osbourne’s last live performance took place on July 5th in his hometown of Birmingham, England, at the Back to the Beginning concert.

The historic event featured tributes and performances by metal icons, including Metallica, Anthrax, Pantera, Slayer, Alice in Chains, and a supergroup with members of Guns N’ Roses, Smashing Pumpkins, Limp Bizkit, and more.

In a tribute fitting for a legend, Mercury Studios is releasing a 100-minute concert film titled Back to the Beginning: Ozzy’s Final Bow, set to premiere in theaters in early 2026 before heading to streaming platforms.

‘No Escape From Now’: Ozzy’s Final Years

A deeply personal feature-length documentary, Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now, will debut on Paramount+ later this year. The film captures Osbourne’s six-year battle to recover from a 2019 fall and reflects on the toll Parkinson’s took on his life.

“The last six years have been full of some of the worst times I’ve been through,” Osbourne said. “There’s been times when I thought my number was up. But making music and making two albums saved me. I’d have gone nuts without music.”

The documentary features appearances from Sharon Osbourne, their children, and music legends like Tony Iommi, Duff McKagan, Billy Idol, Chad Smith, and Zakk Wylde.

‘Last Rites’ Memoir Arriving October 7

Before his death, Osbourne completed a new memoir titled Last Rites, scheduled for release on October 7 via Grand Central Publishing/Hachette Book Group. It is a follow-up to his 2009 bestselling autobiography, I Am Ozzy.

Last Rites delves into his final years, focusing on his health struggles, Parkinson’s diagnosis, and reflections on a chaotic but iconic life.

It also shares stories about his turbulent marriage to Sharon Osbourne and adventures with rock legends like Slash, Bon Scott, John Bonham, and Keith Moon.

Unearthed Early Recordings: The Lost Tapes of Earth

Fans can also look forward to Earth: The Legendary Lost Tapes, a never-before-released collection of demos recorded in 1969 before Black Sabbath was officially formed. The recordings — featuring Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, Geezer Butler, and Osbourne — will be released July 25 through Big Bear Records.

“Before Black Sabbath, the band were known as Earth – a blues-driven powerhouse already making a name for themselves,” said original manager Jim Simpson. “These recordings clearly demonstrate what fine music they produced right from the very beginning.”

The tracks were remastered from long-lost tapes found in Zella Studio, Birmingham.
