According to a new poll from West Health and Gallup, many voters want the GOP and Democratic candidates to discuss healthcare. A staggering 67% said they feel the issue isn’t getting the attention it deserves, with 27% asserting the opposite.
GOP voters are less likely than Independents and Democrats to share these concerns. However, even 53% of Republicans claimed Harris and Trump ought to focus more attention on healthcare. Collectively, Americans remain hopeful about the future of protections for both Medicare and Social Security.
During key campaign moments, the vice president has accused her rival of planning to gut heavily relied-upon healthcare programs. Among Independents, Harris leads Trump on this issue. This demographic of voters shows more support for her plans to increase the quality and accessibility of medical care, while also lowering prescription drug fees.
During tonight’s vice presidential debate featuring Walz vs. Vance, it remains to be seen if either running mate will speak about healthcare.
