Coronavirus --- and the subsequent lockdowns --- has prompted various crises for Americans across the nation. Feelings of being trapped at home are issues for certain people, as are financial concerns about paying the bills and keeping roofs over heads.

Mental health is also a factor as the nation grapples with coronavirus. This is a matter that Hollywood superstar and pro-wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson talked about yesterday. The Rock drew attention to the importance of mental health during an Instagram Live chat with California Governor Gavin Newsom.

The Rock on Mental Health in the Era of COVID-19

During The Rock's chat with Newsom, he discussed the various aspects of coronavirus that can trigger issues with mental health. Social distancing, being away from loved ones, deaths from the virus, and unemployment concerns are details that the wrestling superstar pointed out.

Shortly thereafter, The Rock explained that even the most upbeat and optimistic people in the world don't have immunity from mental health struggles. Using himself as an example, the Hollywood mogul explained that prior to the CDC's social distancing recommendations, he used to spend time with friends to boost his emotional state.

The Rock then talked about how he's managed to cope with his own mental health in the wake of coronavirus.

"It's been about 50/50. I've had some really good days, where I feel anchored and balanced, and I feel optimistic and hopeful. Then the opposite side of that: honestly days where I'm wobbling because you don't know what's going to happen tomorrow."

Finally, the superstar admitted that while coronavirus can trigger depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues, it's important to maintain "a faith that things are going to be OK."

Mental Health Awareness

The Rock's pointers about mental health awareness are accurate and critical, especially in present times. Americans should absolutely do what they can to preserve a healthy state of mind and not lose hope.

A significant factor in mental health involves financial security, however. This is something that millions of Americans lack, especially as Democrat mayors and governors issue and lengthen shelter-in-place/stay-at-home orders. Needless to say, when people face government bans that prohibit them from working and earning a living, this causes immense strain on multiple levels.

On another note, light at the end of the tunnel should offer positive contributions to mental health. CDC officials and other doctors have indicated that COVID-19 is approaching its peak; earlier this week, Dr. Anthony Fauci predicted that cases of the virus will decline in the coming weeks.

This news arrives as Texas Governor Greg Abbott announces plans to reopen businesses within the state.
