Nykyforov dismissed the claim as a pretext for Russia to justify more attacks on Ukrainian cities.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that  “We are attacking neither Putin nor Moscow. We are fighting on our own territory, defending our villages and cities.”

National Security Council Spokesperson John Kirby also dismissed the claim, stating that Peskov’s allegations were “just lying.”

“Attempts to disown this both in Kyiv and in Washington are, of course, absolutely ridiculous,” Peskov responded. “We know very well that decisions on such actions and such terrorist attacks are made not in Kyiv, but in Washington.”

“I can assure you that there was no involvement by the United States. Whatever it was, it didn’t involve us,” Kirby added.

The alleged drone strike attack has sparked concerns that Russia might be operating a “false flag” campaign.

Early Thursday, it was still unclear who was responsible for the two explosions over the Kremlin. It is known that they appeared to have occurred 15 minutes apart.
