A tense confrontation outside a Tarzana residence reportedly linked to singer Chris Brown escalated into a shooting scare Friday afternoon, ending with one man in custody and lingering questions about what triggered the clash.

Los Angeles police said officers responded at approximately 4:11 p.m. on May 1 to the 19600 block of West Citrus Ridge Drive following reports of gunfire. What they encountered was not a typical firearm incident, but a volatile dispute that had already reached a dangerous boiling point.

Argument Turns Volatile

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident began as a heated argument between a suspect and a victim. At some point during the exchange, the suspect allegedly produced a CO2-powered handgun — a BB-style weapon capable of firing plastic projectiles — and discharged it toward the victim.

Authorities said the situation intensified rapidly, like a spark igniting dry brush, transforming a verbal disagreement into a physical threat within moments.

Media reports, citing law enforcement sources, indicated that a woman called police claiming a man had fired at her vehicle. The same reports suggested the dispute may have escalated after the suspect accused the woman of refusing to leave the area and allegedly running over his foot with her car.

No Injuries, But Serious Charges

Despite the alarming nature of the incident, police confirmed that no injuries were reported and the victim did not require hospitalization. Still, the consequences for the suspect were immediate.

The man, identified as 35-year-old Markeith Cungious, was arrested at the scene. He now faces allegations including discharging a weapon and possession of a weapon in connection with an assault involving a deadly weapon.

Authorities emphasized that the weapon used was not a conventional firearm, though its use in the confrontation still raised serious safety concerns.

Connection to Chris Brown Unclear

While the location of the incident has been associated with Chris Brown, investigators have not established any direct link between the singer and those involved. Police also noted that the altercation occurred on the street outside the residence, not on the property itself.
