For those interested in the precise path of the eclipse, NASA has created a detailed map, which can be downloaded in high resolution from their website. This map includes exact timing information for the eclipse in various cities, ensuring you don’t miss a moment of this extraordinary event.

Safely Viewing the Eclipse

While the Ring of Fire eclipse promises a breathtaking display, it’s crucial to view it safely to protect your eyes. Staring at the sun during an eclipse without proper protection can lead to eye damage due to the sun’s harmful ultraviolet radiation.

NASA recommends obtaining eclipse glasses or a handheld solar viewer with an ISO 12312-2:2015 certification. These protective devices are available online or at local planetariums, many of which host eclipse-watching events along the path of totality.

It’s important to inspect your eclipse glasses or handheld viewer for any damage, such as tears, scratches, or loose frames, and ensure they were manufactured after 2015. Avoid looking at the sun through cameras, telescopes, or binoculars, even while wearing eclipse glasses or using a solar filter, as concentrated solar rays can damage the filter and pose a risk to your eyes.
