The mothers of former Miss USA, Noelia Voigt, and Miss Teen USA, UmaSofia Srivastava, have broken their silence. They are speaking out on the bullying and harassment their daughters suffered during their reigns.

Barbara Srivastava and Jackeline Voigt, in an exclusive interview with Good Morning America, revealed the distressing truth behind their daughters' decisions to relinquish their coveted pageant titles.

The decision to speak out comes in the wake of their daughters' unprecedented resignations which left the pageant world in disbelief.

The NDAs

Noelia and UmaSofia are both still bound by non-disclosure agreements with the Miss USA organization. They are unable to fully disclose the reasons behind their abrupt departures.

UmaSofia Srivastava posted on Instagram that her values “no longer aligned” with those of the organization. And Noelia Voigt wrote a long, cryptic statement with an anagram that spells out “I am silenced” in the first letter of 11 sentences.

Jackeline Voigt would not answer if her daughter sent an intentional secret message. But she did say her daughter was silenced, emphasizing “She is, and she would be the rest of her life if this NDA is not (lifted).”

Speaking Out

Barbara Srivastava, expressing her dismay, stated, "The job of their dreams turned out to be a nightmare." The mothers painted a picture of disillusionment and distress. And highlighted the immense pressure and challenges their daughters faced behind the glamourous facade of pageantry.

Barbara Srivastava said that during their daughters were “ill-treated, abused, bullied and cornered.”

The revelations didn't stop there. Noelia Voigt's resignation letter, leaked to CNN, exposed a litany of grievances against Miss USA CEO Laylah Rose. There were allegations of a toxic work environment and bullying.

Voigt detailed an incident where she was left vulnerable and harassed due to inadequate support from the organization.

The distressing accounts continued as Barbara Srivastava recounted instances of mistreatment and bullying endured by the ex-titleholders.

Both mothers called for accountability from the Miss Universe Organization, urging them to acknowledge the grievances and extend apologies.

Despite repeated attempts, the Miss USA and Miss Universe Organization are not responding to requests for comment. The silence from the pageant giants only served to create widespread speculation.

The mothers issued a cautionary warning to aspiring pageant contestants, advising them against involvement with Miss USA.

The Miss Teen USA runner-up from 2023, New York’s Stephanie Skinner, posted a statement on Instagram refusing to take the crown.

As of Tuesday, Savannah Gankiewicz from Hawaii the runner-up for Miss USA is reportedly set to take the crown.

One thing remains clear: the voices of Noelia Voigt and UmaSofia Srivastava, though silenced for now, echo the urgent need for transparency and accountability within the pageant industry.

Their mothers' courageous decision to speak out serves as a rallying cry for change, advocating for a safer and more empowering environment for future titleholders.
