In the southeast, Trump has a strong lead in Georgia and North Carolina, even after delays in Georgia’s counting due to a water line exploding in Fulton County, i.e. Atlanta. Most likely, Trump will be able to secure both N.C. and Georgia by day’s end.
In all, this has been an extremely close race, which has surprised Democratic pollsters greatly following weeks of national polls suggesting a Biden victory was a foregone conclusion. Indeed, the polling industry is in for a reality check after the election after being dead wrong in 2016 and 2020.
This goes to show how divided American society is at this point in time, with practically a 50-50 split between Biden and Trump in a large number of states. If Biden is declared victor, he will have to contend with this division and find a way to build an amicable relationship with the Senate which the Republicans will continue to hold.
