The seventh installment in the Transformers movie series, “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts”, is once again drawing attention in the box office, having garnered $8.8 million in Thursday previews.
The release of this sequel has come with certain expectations of battling the box office performance of last week’s chart-topper, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts aims to secure a box office turnover of $50 million to $60 million this weekend, standing tall against Spider-Man’s estimated range of $45 million to $55 million. However, this new iteration of Transformers aspires to do more than just overshadow other releases.
It intends to restore the franchise’s vigor following the relatively disappointing performance of the 2018 reboot, “Bumblebee”.
A Hopeful Turnaround for the Transformers Franchise
Rise of the Beasts is shaping up to be a stark departure from its predecessor, the Hailee Steinfeld-led “Bumblebee”, which registered a franchise-low opening of $21.6 million, despite earning $2.85 million in Thursday previews.
