Mexican officials have criticized the buoys, asserting that they violate treaties signed with the United States regarding the management of the Rio Grande. This disagreement raises concerns about diplomatic relations between the two neighboring countries.

Safety and Navigation Concerns

Judge Ezra highlighted the immediate and ongoing harm caused by the floating barriers, including the strain on US-Mexican relations and threats to human life. He also expressed concerns about the impairment of free and safe navigation along the Rio Grande.

Texas officials deny any responsibility for drowning incidents and emphasize that drowning deaths were increasing due to the massive influx of migrants. And all deaths took place before the border buoys were installed.

Governor Abbott’s resolute stance on Texas’s answer to border security is evident in his statement on social media, where he posted on X that “this fight ain’t over.”
