The Epic Legal Saga Continues

This lawsuit, one of English legal history’s largest, initially got dismissed by the High Court, deemed more fitting for Brazilian jurisdiction. However, the Court of Appeal resurrected the proceedings in July 2022, recognizing the potential benefits for the victims in an English trial.

The case’s substantive merits remain undetermined, with a trial slated for October 2024 to resolve procedural issues, including the applicability of Brazilian time limitations.

The High Court dismissed BHP’s plea for a trial delay, and as the legal saga continues, Vale remains tight-lipped, with other parties yet to comment.
