3 University of Virginia football players killed, suspect arrested in deaths

Ryan explained that the shooting happened on a charter bus after students returned to campus from a class field trip.

The team traveled to Washington, D.C. to attend a play. And the shootings occurred around 10:30 p.m. Sunday when they returned. The victims were still on the bus in the Culbreth parking garage on campus when they were shot.

Longo said the students enjoyed a meal together and then “someone amongst them chose to do an act of violence.”

Ryan called the incident a “sad, shocking, and tragic day for the university community.”

“Let me say how deeply sorry I am for the victims and their families and friends,” Ryan said.

Tony Elliott, Virginia football coach said of the murdered students that “They were all good kids.”
