A Republican congressman is encouraging Arizona to recall Senator John McCain because of his recent brain cancer diagnosis.

During an interview with Fox & Friends on Monday, Texas Cong. Louie Gohmert said Arizona should recall Sen. McCain because stress prevents recovery from cancer.

Cong. Gohmert also criticized the Arizona senator for opposing the efforts of the Republican Party to repeal Obamacare. McCain promised Americans that he would help repeal the existing health care law.

According to him, “Nothing inhibits recovery from cancer. I think Arizona could help him and us. Recall him. Let him fight successfully this terrible cancer.” He added, “Let’s get someone in here who will give the word he gave last year.

On Friday, McCain announced that he could not support the latest GOP healthcare bill to repeal Obamacare. He said, “I cannot in good conscience vote for the Graham-Cassidy proposal.” The Arizona senator emphasized that health care reform legislation is “too important” and “too many lives are at risk.” It must be a “product of a regular order in the Senate.”

Political observers believe the Graham-Cassidy bill is dead on arrival at the Senate. McCain killed another Republican legislation to eliminate the existing health care law. In July, he opposed the so called “skinny repeal” plan.

Gohmert says replacing McCain will be helpful for America

Gohmert noted that President Donald Trump endorsed McCain. He believed that it was a “rare mistake.” Without Trump’s endorsement, his challenger may have won the senate seat in Arizona, said Gohmert.

The Texas congressman suggested that replacing McCain will be very helpful for the country. He emphasized that cancer is a tough battle. He repeated that “stress is a real inhibitor toward getting over cancer. Let him go back, deal with the cancer. Let Arizona recall him. Let’s get somebody that will keep his word.”

When asked about McCain’s demand for regular order and bipartisan legislation, Gohmert said “there is nothing wrong” with it. However, he pointed out that the “Democrats will not allow any repeal of anything in Obamacare.”  He added, "We are not the ones keeping it from being bipartisan.

Gohmert said McCain is blocking sick people from getting help

Furthermore, Gohmert explained that he suggested recalling McCain because his constituents in Texas are hurting from Obamacare.

"I was down in Lufkin at the forest fair, all over east Texas. People are hurting. There are people who have diseases and they lost their doctor. They're begging, please, you've got to repeal. You got to give me some help.”

According to Gohmert, people with heart problem and those with cancer just like the Arizona senator needs help. “He is blocking them from getting the help that they need.”
