The U.S. military on Tuesday intercepted and destroyed an Iranian Shahed-139 drone that approached the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea, officials said. The drone reportedly approached the carrier “with unclear intent,” prompting an F-35 fighter jet from the Abraham Lincoln to engage and shoot it down. Hours later, Iranian vessels in the Strait of Hormuz reportedly harassed the U.S.-flagged commercial tanker Stena Imperative. The boats attempted to force the tanker to stop and prepare for boarding, but the vessel sped away under escort from the USS McFaul. The situation eventually de-escalated, and the tanker continued its journey safely.
