Somewhere out there, someone is sitting on what might be the largest unofficial beer stockpile in recent memory. A truck loaded with an estimated 40,000 pounds of Pabst Blue Ribbon vanished in Montclair, in what could go down as one of the biggest beer heists on record.

A Staggering Amount of Missing Beer

To put the scale in perspective: the stolen shipment was carrying the equivalent of more than 50,000 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon — enough to stock a small city's worth of backyard barbecues, or one extremely ambitious tailgate.

Pabst Responds Publicly — and Bluntly

Rather than staying quiet, Pabst took its frustration straight to social media, publicly addressing the theft while making a direct plea for the truck and its cargo to be returned. In an Instagram post, the company wrote simply: "STOLEN - 40,000lbs of beer."

The post didn't stop there, taking on a tone somewhere between exasperated and darkly humorous: "To the thief: we don't fault you for wanting to brag to your friends how much PBR you have, we just wish you obtained it the honorable way."

An Ultimatum With a Ticking Clock

Pabst didn't just vent — it issued a formal deadline. "Pabst is officially starting the clock now - you have exactly 18 days and 44 minutes to return our truck, no questions asked. Leading up to that time, we will be offering a reward to anyone who can help us solve this mystery," the company wrote, pairing genuine urgency with an oddly precise countdown.

The post closed with a line meant to remove any doubt about how seriously the company was taking the situation: "P.s. this is real and we are deadly serious."

The Search Continues, and the Beer Isn't Getting Any Fresher

Pabst followed up with a subsequent Instagram update confirming the hunt for the missing truck was still very much active. "Beer is getting warmer, trail is getting colder. Clock's still ticking," the company wrote, encouraging anyone who spots the truck to snap a photo and tag Pabst directly on social media.

The company also asked that anyone with relevant information message them privately, treating its own social media accounts as an informal tip line for the ongoing search.

Law Enforcement Gets Involved

In a statement to Eyewitness News, a Pabst spokesperson confirmed the company is coordinating directly with local authorities in an effort to recover the stolen truck, expressing gratitude for their continued investigative work. The spokesperson added a final, tongue-in-cheek hope: that whoever managed to pull off the theft also understands the importance of keeping the beer properly chilled.
