Cain was found dead at her home in Dersingham, Norfolk, while she was hosting a sleepover for her three children and their friends. Her husband, Mark Cain, 45, has been charged with her murder.

Mark Cain Charged With Murder

A district judge remanded him in custody pending a further court appearance at King's Lynn Crown Court.

Prosecutor Jacqui Hanlon told the court that emergency services contacted police at approximately 2:25 a.m. on Sunday.

According to the prosecution account, Dr. Cain was found in an upstairs bedroom. A post-mortem examination reportedly identified a blunt-force injury to the right side of her head.

The examination also found an injury described as potentially suggestive of compression of the neck. These findings have become important elements of the murder investigation, although the precise circumstances and sequence of events remain matters for investigators and the courts.

Police established a cordon around the property as investigators worked to reconstruct what happened inside the family home.

Residents have expressed disbelief over the killing in an area commonly described as quiet and relatively safe.

Neighbors reportedly remembered Cain as a warm and well-liked member of the community. One described her as a “lovely human being” and praised her relationship with her three children.

Friends also reportedly said that Cain appeared stressed or distracted during the school run shortly before her death, although such observations do not establish what happened inside the home or whether she was in danger.

The Grimston Medical Centre has been affected by the tragedy, with colleagues and patients mourning a doctor who had continued working while balancing her medical career with raising her children.

The murder investigation remains active, and police have appealed for information that could help establish the circumstances of Cain's death.

The proximity of the home to Sandringham Estate has added another layer of public interest, particularly because of Cain's reported connection to Royal Family patients.
