He added, “We believe this gift can help offer additional housing and support services for our neighbors in need. In addition, together with our employees, we will donate to nonprofits located in Washington State, Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia, whose missions support affordable housing and people experiencing homelessness.”

Amazon has been donating to nonprofits to help people in living in poverty

This is not the first time Amazon made contributions to help people in need and get back to their feet. Since 2016, the e-commerce giant gave in-kind and cash gifts to its nonprofit partners Mary’s Place and FareStart in Seattle.

Amazon provided a first-of-its-kind family shelter to Mary’s Place, which is located within the e-commerce giant’s building. On the other hand, it provided a classroom and restaurant space for FareStart’s job training program for people living in poverty or experiencing homelessness.

The total value of its donations to both organizations including annual rent is more than $130 million. Its in-kind and cash gifts to Mary’s Place alone is $100 million over the next ten years, according to the e-commerce giant.
