Amrit Ocean Resort Contractors Lawsuit Piles Pressure on Singer Island Landmark

Amrit Ocean Resort contractors lawsuit

The shine is wearing thin on one of Singer Island’s most ambitious luxury developments as the Amrit Ocean Resort contractors lawsuit joins a growing stack of legal actions confronting the oceanfront property just two years after construction wrapped up.

Seven lawsuits have now been filed against the Amrit Ocean Resort and Residences or entities tied to its developer, pulling the seven-acre hotel-and-condominium complex into a widening legal storm. The claims come from business partners, condominium owners and even one of the project’s own homeowners’ associations, touching everything from alleged construction defects to unpaid bills.

Owners Cite Defects, Delays and Broken Promises

Among the most serious cases is a lawsuit from a condominium owner who paid $4 million for his unit. He alleges the luxury property has been plagued by malfunctioning elevators, a shattered window, water intrusion and extensive cracking in the ceiling — problems he says undermine both safety and value.

Another owner, who bought a $2.5 million condominium, is suing for breach of contract and fraudulent misrepresentation, claiming he still cannot move into the unit he purchased, despite repeated assurances.

Resort Pushes Back

In a statement, Amrit Ocean Resort said the disputes are being overstated and do not directly implicate the resort’s core operations.

“The matters referenced do not directly involve the resort and relate to third parties,” the resort said. “Given the indirect nature of the resort’s involvement and that these matters remain under legal review, we are unable to provide any additional information.”

Contractors Claim Unpaid Work

Legal pressure is also coming from the construction side. Two contractors who worked on the Amrit towers have filed lawsuits alleging they were not paid more than $100,000 for labor and materials supplied during construction. Those claims add a financial dimension to a dispute already marked by dissatisfaction from residents.

Homeowners’ Associations Enter the Fight

One of the property’s two homeowners’ associations filed a lawsuit this summer against the property owner, seeking access to site plans and permit reviews. While the suit does not spell out a specific motive, some condominium owners say the dispute is tied to property taxes.

Several residents claim the city of Riviera Beach has rejected their homestead exemption applications — even though the condominiums serve as their primary residences — because of unresolved documentation issues.

Lawsuit Targets the City

This week, the same homeowners’ association escalated matters by filing a separate lawsuit against the city of Riviera Beach itself. The suit demands the release of site plans and permit reviews, alleging the city is wrongly asserting it does not have to disclose the records.

A Luxury Project Under Legal Siege

What was billed as a crown jewel of Riviera Beach’s oceanfront is now navigating a maze of courtrooms. Like cracks spreading beneath polished marble, the lawsuits threaten to reshape the future of the Amrit Ocean Resort and Residences — turning a symbol of luxury living into a cautionary tale about high-end development under pressure.
