Avengers: Endgame is breaking records and making tens of millions at the box office as Americans come out in droves to see it. However, in spite of the movie's success, not everyone is thrilled.

2020 Democrat hopeful and Sen. Bernie Sanders spoke out earlier this week about the success of Avengers: Endgame and how he believes Disney ought to spend their profits.

Sanders on 'Avengers: Endgame' Success

On Monday, Sanders publically stated that Disney's profits from Avengers: Endgame ought to go towards higher wages for the corporation's employees. The senator expressed this opinion in the following tweet:

This is nothing new. Sanders, like many progressives, regularly slams big corporations for the earning disparities between CEOs and employees. In August of last year, Sanders praised Disney for boosting wages to $15/hr.

A Closer Look at CEOs and Employees

Income inequality and earning disparities between various types of workers are regularly discussed in America. However, as many people have stated, there are reasons why CEOs earn more than the employees who work for them.

First and foremost, CEOs shoulder much more responsibilities than employees. This is a point which is not typically acknowledged by the left-wing when comparisons between CEO earnings and employee earnings are made.

Some of the basic responsibilities of any CEO are as follows:

• Heading and developing long-term and short-term company strategies
• Representing and communicating with the government, shareholders, and general public
• Establishing and instating the mission and vision of the company
• Observing, managing, and lessening company risks

Bear in mind that this is only the tip of the iceberg. Depending on the nature of the company and what all it entails, a CEO may very well have additional responsibilities. Therefore, many people can understand why a CEO earns much more than company employees.

This isn't to say that employees are not valuable. Countless businesses rely upon good work from employees in order to run successfully. However, in the grander scheme of things, employees are more valuable as a collective, than individually. In virtually all cases, replacing an employee is much easier than replacing a CEO.

In the free market, individuals' pay comes in proportion to the value which they bring to the table.
